Senior living and care homes

A care home for the elderly has to feel like a home and run like a care facility. Doing both together is a project, not a purchase.

The context

Italy is ageing, and senior living has only just started taking off compared to the rest of Europe. New facilities are built with technology in the spec from day one; existing ones are being renovated — and need solutions that install with no construction work, while residents are still living there.

The Medioest solution

Common areas, dining rooms, reception spaces and the residential component of the rooms: warm, sturdy, well-crafted furniture — because a care home shouldn’t look like a hospital. Inside, discreet technology working quietly: wireless assistance call (installed as a retrofit, with no rewiring), fall detection, lockers for medicine and personal belongings, tracked access for visitors and staff.

For hospital beds and medical furniture we work with specialist partners, within the same project and the same contract.

Start with a pilot.

One room, one locker bank, one floor: a small perimeter, installed and working, before you extend it. Scaling up is decided on the pilot's numbers — how much space you freed, how much time you got back — not on the promises of whoever sold it to you.

We assess the retrofit without stopping the facility.
